Description

Design functionality, analysis, and manufacturability are core to an engineer designer. Whether it’s a small part or larger assembly, you’ll ask: “Will it work? Will it break? Can I manufacture it?”. These questions drive the design process. With Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD/CAM, all aspects of the engineering process can be addressed in one cloud-based platform.

In this nearly five-hour course, you will work with imported FSAE chassis models, design and simulate mechanical suspension components, and validate motion through the creation of an assembly. You will learn how to manage and organize bodies and components in your model, create complex geometry, analyze mechanical loads and thermal stresses, and shape optimization based on-load paths. You will also create detailed engineering drawings, make exploded view animations, and validate mechanical motion with an assembly. After completing this course, you will have the skills needed to complete all aspects of computer aided engineering (CAE). Contents and Overview

This course consists of 11 sections that include lectures and hands-on exercises introducing Fusion 360’s cloud-based collaboration features for engineering. Each lesson includes comprehensive lecture presentations and project exercises that include step-by-step video instruction, as well as checkpoint quizzes, and a final course assessment.

The Fusion 360 for Engineers course starts with lectures that introduce the modeling phase for the components and design of the FSAE car model. You will learn to model then assemble components using joints.

Next, you’ll work in the Fusion 360 Animation workspace, where you create animations of how the design should be operated or assembled. Using a storyboard, the assembly is exploded by transforming the components individually or as multiple selections along an axis or at an angle. You’ll also learn about Fusion 360’s 8 types of simulation studies, including static and thermal stress.

At the end of the course, you’ll prepare your designs for 3D printing by previewing the mesh structure, making pre-print refinements, and automatically creating optimized support structures.

After you’ve completed the series of lectures, you can take part in practice exercises and challenge assignments that put the skills you’ve learned into practice. Upon completing this course, you will have the skills needed to complete all aspects of computer aided engineering (CAE).
